ExMiller is a file-and-folder navigation control that uses Miller columns to visualize system directories and files. Miller columns, also known as cascading lists, provide a hierarchical browsing technique where multiple levels can be expanded simultaneously, offering a clear and continuous view of the user's current location within the structure.
This navigation model originates from early Smalltalk browser concepts and was independently developed by Mark S. Miller in 1980 at Yale University. Today, Miller columns are widely known as the Columns view in macOS Finder and the Browser view in iTunes.
